1. Take an abra ride
This is hands down the best way to explore old Dubai. Take an abra from either side of the creek for just AED1 and soak in the sights and sounds of the souks and cultural spots. Make sure you take a stroll through the Spice Souk, Gold Souk, Textile Souk and the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood – it’s a great way to learn about the nation’s history and is completely free of cost.

2. Visit Dubai Museum
First used as a fort of defence and then an arsenal of artillery and weapons, the area officially opened as a public museum in 1971. Entry to the museum, that boasts everything from traditional keepsakes and, of course, a vast amount of information about the nation’s rich culture and past, is just AED3. Once inside, you can enjoy guided tours that are free of charge.
