Market to have 120 shops for new and used furniture, household appliances, Gulf News reports.

Dubai Municipality’s General Projects Department has completed the construction of the new furniture market in Nad Al Sheba 3 area at a cost of Dh77 million, the civic body said on Tuesday.

Dubai furniture market is located a short drive away from our latest development, Easy18 which offers quality living at an affordable price. A stone’s throw away from the best Dubai has to offer, residents will have quick access to the top schools, entertainment venues, Dubai fresh fruit and vegetable market and Dragon Mart.

The 288,000-square-foot market, which will also accommodate shops selling household appliances and used electrical appliances, is considered one of the leading projects in the emirate that has applied 100 per cent green building standards.

Marwan Abdullah Al Mohammad, director of General Projects Department, said the Furniture Market, spread in an area of about 17 hectares, is a comprehensive market for the sale of new and used furniture, as well as household appliances.

He said the market will bring together all activities connected with furniture trade at one place, which will lead to an excellent competitive market compared to what exists locally, in the Gulf region and even globally through the comprehensiveness and diversity of existing services in the market.

Al Mohammed added the market has 120 shops distributed in six blocks. Public amenities such as restaurants and toilets, 714 parking spaces for visitors and 114 parking spaces for trucks are also available.

He said the project also includes other facilities such as roads and shaded areas for external display of furniture during local and international festivals, besides green spaces and public services.

Al Mohammed said the market aims to have the collection of furniture, used electrical appliances and household appliances in one location rather than being randomly spread and unorganised, making it difficult for the public and re-export companies to purchase and search for convenience and move between more than one areas.

The project is being handed over to the beneficiary department at Dubai Municipality for the purpose of operation.
